Grandma’s House: FAQs about this charming Saskatchewan rental property

I’ve had a lot of questions & interest when I’ve shared about a rental property that my husband, Tyler & I visited recently just North of Saskatoon called Grandma’s House, so I thought I’d put together a handy FAQ post. If you’re looking for a unique spot for a family reunion, wedding, retreat, or even just a cozy weekend away, this place is a gem.

This post is sponsored but as always, opinions are my own! I’ll never give you a recommendation here that I wouldn’t give in real life.

Where & what is Grandma’s House?

Grandma’s House is a rental property with a variety of booking options, located along the banks of the North Saskatchewan in the Langham / Hepburn area. It’s close enough to Saskatoon to be accessible and to have Saskatoon city water, but far enough to truly escape. It’s pastoral with modern comforts sprinkled in. The skies, the river, the land… as my husband so accurately said, “it’s pure Saskatchewan.”

What kinds of events work well here?

I see Grandma’s House being ideal for:

  • Family reunions

  • Weddings (imagine the photos!)

  • Markets

  • Retreats (yoga, wellness, painting, or other workshops)

  • A weekend to unplug and gather your favourite people!

What comes with a booking?

When you book Grandma’s House, you get two spaces together:

  • The House: a heritage-style farmhouse with nostalgic decor. It sleeps 10 and has a kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry, an outdoor firepit, WiFi, and 3 TVs with satellite. Click here to take a video tour.

  • The Summer Kitchen (Games Room): Another little cabin next to Grandma’s House with a living room for visiting and little attached room with bed. Washrooms are located in the main property.

If you want to add on extra space, you can add:

The Granary: a spacious hall perfect for hangouts, workshops, yoga, serving food, or your group’s party. Here is a video tour. Washrooms are included.

The Saloon Stage: a rustic event space with seating, an indoor open fire with ventilation, dedicated bar area with a fridge, sliding front doors, and the coolest stage decorated with vintage records and lit with stage lights. Washrooms are included.

The River View Cabin We stayed in it this picturesque, cozy, build. Tucked down near the water, the cabin is its own little ecosystem with outdoor shower, flush washroom, sink by the house, firepit, table, and comes stocked with basic cooking and dinnerware. It also has a raised tent spot just off the path. Perfect if you want a mix of comfort and camping vibes. Can fit 4 as there is a bunk bed.

The Raised Tent Just down a trail from the Cabin is a high quality tent on a platform base, with two cots inside. I can see this being perfect for older kids in a family or just someone you’re traveling with that prefers a more campy experience (without having to actually prep, other than to bring sleeping bags). With white lights and its own table and chairs beside, it’s a pretty little spot and it’s included with the Cabin rental, at least during its launch. I’ll update if that changes.

The Tiny Chapel

Imagine saying your vows atop the beautiful North Saskatchewan River hills in front of the most magical little hand-built chapel. Not pictured are 5 pews and 35 blue chairs that equal seating for 60 people, though you can easily add more chairs (many are available on this property). Pictured is a couch you get to use for photos! There’s also a pink armchair for the same purpose as well as a wooden lectern. The chapel is open inside (fits the couch and chair), with a cute loft space and ladder. And look at the chapel at night! Silhouette photo ops galore at sunset.

Photography locations

Speaking of photo ops, Grandma’s House is like a movie set of Saskatchewan. From the old truck and red barn to the gorgeous mossy limestones from which the University of Saskatchewan used in constructing their early buildings, everywhere you look is a stunning backdrop.

Activities

The river is welcoming for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing so bring your equipment! There’s also basketball, vollyball, and if you have a horse? There’s a corral and trails to ride. With 1.5 miles of river frontage with numerous trails and connecting trails you can horse ride or hike. From beginner to experienced, there are all levels of trails.

Are there plumbed washrooms?

Indeed there is a full indoor washroom facility with two banks of flush toilets in stalls (plus urinal on one side), and sinks for handwashing. There is also a shower on each side.

Is there room for RV?

Yep! There’s RV parking on-site with electrical hookup of 30 & 50 amp for $30/night, plus nonelectric for $20/night. If you’re having a reunion, wedding, or small festival, this is important to know.

How do I book?

There are a couple of ways:

Can you book the entire property?

Yes! And if you’re planning a big event, that’s definitely what you’ll want.

And the big question… did it live up to the hype?

When we arrived, I had my camera out immediately… but so did Tyler (a good sign). We’ll end with a quote from him:

“It’s pure Saskatchewan… skies, river, land. I liked that there’s a connection to history. The boulders and the buildings. Comfortable. Rustic. And it was nice having Saskatoon water.”

If you’re dreaming up an event or a getaway that blends history, prairie charm, and space to make memories, Grandma’s House is a gem. You’ll end up with way more photos (and future plans) than you expected. 😉 There are very limited dates available in the coming months and booking is now into the winter and for Spring/Summer 2026- don’t miss out on availability!
