Things to do in Saskatoon: Your Weekend Guide July 9-12

Hello, dear reader! Maygen aka “Sneaks” here. Every Thursday morning, I make a list of things to do in Saskatoon with an emphasis on low or no cost events. I volunteer to make these weekly guides. On now- TD Saskatchewan Jazz Festival main stage at Victoria Park AND MORE at venues across the city From pop ups to ticketed shows, I hope you’ll take some festival in. At Vic Park, there’s also the Butler Byers Family Fun Zone, a local market, & food trucks. See the site for a full list and schedule of performers! Free main stage admission July 9, &11. And 1:30pm yoga in the park on Saturday is also free.

On now- LEGO Mosaic building events at Saskatoon Public Library locations Help to make a massive LEGO mural by completing a 6x6 dot piece that’s added to a larger square. There are branch events running all through the summer so be sure to check out some dates and locations. Free.

Thurs-Sat 10am-5pm (Str-eatery Social block til 7pm)- 40th Anniversary Downtown Saskatoon Sidewalk Sale Retail deals, local artisans, food vendors, and family-friendly entertainment on 21st St and 2nd Ave.

Thurs-Sun- Warman Days Car show, entertainment, a parade, vendor market, a fair… it’s a short drive from Saskatoon for a whole lot of fun. See the site for more info.

Thurs 6:30pm- Globe BMX races. This is a weekly event open to spectators. Free.

Thurs 6pm- Meewasin Naughty by Nature (19+) It’s all about the birds and the bees at Beaver Creek with this mating themed hike. Plus, a cocktail class with Black Fox. $42

Thurs 9:30pm- Meewasin Dark Skies Walk and learn with Eric Gignac, from Meewasin’s Resource Management team, who will share his extensive knowledge about Saskatchewan’s bats on a night hike under the stars at Beaver Creek. $33, $27/youth, $17/under 12

Sat- Free Slurpee Day at 7-11

Sat 8am-10pm- Blue Sky Ranch Berry Festival Beautiful views, music, and prairie hospitality. $15 for a 4L pail or $3/lb if you bring your own container. Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides $10/person. Pie and dirty sodas for purchase. 7:30pm concert with The Cherrys, Ray Meyers and Friends is $25. Daytime is free.

Sat 10am-5pm- Doukhobor Dugout House: The Price of Peace Burning of Arms reenactment Plus, visit the Museum and historic dugout houses. Located one hour north of Saskatoon. $14/adult, $12/senior, $8/youth, under 12 free. Or book a Doukhobor bread making workshop ($37.50/adult, $19/child) and get admission included.

Sat 11am-4pm- Summer Fun community market at Confederation Mall

Sat 1pm- The Grizzlies is screening at Remai Modern, $10/adults, free for members & under 18

Sat 4 & 7pm- Saskatoon Berries Baseball, $15+

Sat 5pm- Sutherland Automotive Speedway car racing $20, $15/senior, military, youth. Under 12/ free

Sat & Sun 11am-4pm-19+ Modern Artmakers all-ages drop-in workshop at Remai Modern by donation, free for members & youth under 18

Sun 1-2pm- From Fossils to Potash on the Nutrien Wonderhub lawn. An opportunity for kids and their grown-ups to become geologists digging into Saskatchewan’s rich geological story by exploring fossils, rocks, and resources through hands-on earth science activities. Designed for ages 5-9, all ages welcome. Free!

Sun 1-4pm- Visit The Marr Residence for Trivia with Olivia Learn about this historic property at 326 11th Street East, admission by donation.

Sun 2pm- Saskatoon Historical Society Walking Tours: History of Broadway Avenue with Dianne Wilson. Meet at the Pioneer Cairn (east of Broadway Bridge & Saskatchewan Crescent). Free!
